Using Green Insulation is a Wise Contribution to the Earth and Its Precious Resources.

"Green Insulation" is a term that refers to insulation products that are energy efficient, give off no ozone destroying gasses, and cause minimal landfill impact. Not only are green homes cost effective by decreasing your utility bills substantially each month, but using green insulation is a wise contribution to the earth and its precious resources.

We all want to do our part to help maintain the beauty of the earth for ourselves and for our children. Whether we are worried about global warming, our rising energy bills, or the durability of our homes, making your home more energy efficient is the single most eco-friendly improvement that you can do. Some options for creating a green home are green furniture such as tables or bed frames made from reclaimed wood or renewable bamboo, or green appliances such as washing machines that use less water and energy, or green roofing products made from recycled materials. With so much motivation to help preserve the earth nowadays, it is easy to find green building products that will serve your needs and make you feel good all at the same time.

Your choice of green insulation is the best place to start for a green home. Many of us already have fiberglass in our homes, but now there are more green or environmentally friendly options that are healthier for ourselves and our environment, and they are, hands down, a better insulation product than typical fiberglass.

At Therma-Comfort, we are committed to creating and designing a sustainable construction product that will reduce the amount of energy used, cut your bills significantly, and last for years to come. There are many green insulation products on the market that are environmentally friendly. One of these is reflective insulation, which has many benefits just as an insulation, but it is also a great example of green insulation.

As Green Insulation, Therma-Comfort is:

- A Radiant Barrier, preventing heat loss which saves money and energy.

- Non-toxic and non-carcinogenic, therefore no ozone depleting toxins are released upon installation or throughout the course of its use.

- Fortified with a fire retardant which meets fire and smoke safety requirements of most federal, state, and local building codes.

- A vapor barrier which eliminates the leakage of condensation and moisture which promotes the growth of fungi or bacteria.

- A Class A / Class 1 Fire Rating.

- Clean, Lightweight, Very Strong.

- Easy to handle.

- A barrier against pest infestation as it provides no nest support for rodent or insect pests.

- Maintenance free.

Reflective insulation is a specialized technology made of layers of bubbles surrounded by a foil outer surface to block the flow of radiant heat.

Heat is transferred in three ways:

Conduction- Direct Contact: Transfer of heat from one solid object to another when they are in contact with each other.

Convection- Circulation: Transfer of heat in the air caused by the movement of heated air.

Radiant- Electromagnetic: Transfer of heat from infra-red waves at the contact of a material.

Most insulating products resist heat transfer by forming small air or gas pockets between layers of building materials such as fiberglass, recycled paper and foam. The small spaces restrict heat flow by convection.

Reflective insulation is a radiant barrier that blocks the flow of radiant heat, which is the largest source of energy loss or gain in your home. It permanently reduces energy costs on your monthly bills and also cuts down on the initial money required for heating and cooling equipment. It can be installed anywhere in the house from the attic to the basement. It is easily installed in unfinished walls of newly constructed buildings or added to previous insulation, increasing the R-value of what is already in place.

Therma-Comfort is a very high quality reflective insulation. We use a uniquely designed system of materials made of layers of insulating, heat sealed air bubbles encased by a 99% pure aluminum foil outer surface. These surfaces are highly reflective and therefore provide optimal thermal performance.

As a High Performance Reflective Insulation, Therma-Comfort is:

- A radiant barrier providing 97% radiant heat reflection.

- A strong vapor barrier with 0% water vapor permeance.

- A perfect protection against all solar-generated heat radiated down by the roof.

- One of the highest R-values on the market. It maximizes the thermal resistance (R-value) without adding significant thickness to the insulation system. Typical R-value for fiberglass is 3.14 per inch, and blown-in loose fill is 3.70, whereas Therma-Comfort has an R-value of up to 14.6, depending on the direction of the heat flow.

- A cost-effective system of maintaining the temperature and humidity distribution of the house at the time of construction.

- An excellent boost to the thermal performance of already existing insulation, if you are seeking to renovate an already existing home.

Installation of Therma-Comfort is extremely easy. It is lightweight, clean, and non-toxic. It requires no gloves or breathing gear. If you want to install it yourself, you simply need a measuring device, scissors or knife, and staples or tape.

Our Therma-Comfort staff is knowledgeable and skilled in all options of green insulation. Not only is Therma-Comfort the best reflective insulation out there, we are committed to providing an insulation with the greatest energy conservation, life-cycle performance, and the most minimal landfill impact on the environment. We can advise you in the best product for your "green" needs and we can give you a price quote to assist in the process.
